Li-on + charger?

Ok as many of you know i am doing a project called "super xmod". I found this new website that has one thing i needed and i noticed some lithium chargers for cheap. SO basically(electronics people) i am going to get li-on and i am a little confused on the charger+li-on setup.

Here is the store page of the website:
http://www.bayvillemodders.com/apps/webstore/

Which charger for li-on:
http://www.bayvillemodders.com/apps/...source-needed-
http://www.bayvillemodders.com/apps/...m-safe-charger

the li-on:
http://www.bayvillemodders.com/apps/...p-lithium-pack
(basically am's lithium)
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...BATTERYKIT.htm

Here is what i was thinking: Xi's li-on (cheaper) and bayvillemodders: $15 dollar charger. I think it is the same as xi's setup just saving a couple of bucks.

Mods you can delete this thread when i am done and have my info.
Thanks.

ff - spend the extra cash and get a Lithium-Polymer charger. you can charge both Li-Ion and Li-Po with it. Li-Ion chargers cannot do both. that way if you want to upgrade to Li-po you're set chargerwise.

Ok, thanks. but don't i need i 12v power source? i don't know if we have one i'll have to ask. I think we do.

Just use a car battery or search for a DC (battery as source of power) to AC (wall outlet as source of power) adapter that will work with your charger.

I found one nvm. It was right on my work table where i do all my body work and stuff. So i should go with this one

How about the li-on? i am probably just going to go with xi's li-on d.i.y. pack.

just on a side note...at the bottom of the page it says 2007, is that when it started or the last time there was an update, i would probably check that out first

fieldfairy2 05-02-2008 05:21 PM

It says patent pending. SO i don't really know. I do know that they have what i need and cheap except for shipping. $10 for 2 items.

theoriganalRiD3R1967 05-02-2008 05:23 PM

are you gonna try and get in contact first?

fieldfairy2 05-02-2008 05:33 PM

maybe. I am still checking out my options. As in where to buy this stuff. I might give them an email.

I'd be happy to contact the owner, him and I do biz, see that BLT Built section on BVM?
I'll sell motors, Li-ion pack/LiPo packs, and much more, wire upgrades, etc...

fieldfairy2 05-03-2008 10:26 AM

I already contacted him later yesterday. I haven't heard back yet. I looked at the "blt built" section and nothing was on that page. I'll try again later.
here is the setup
charger(li-on + lipo)
http://www.bayvillemodders.com/apps/...m-safe-charger
and xi's lithium pack
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...BATTERYKIT.htm

THat should work fine,right?

Yeah, the 14500 series cells will fit, but be careful, I just used servo tape(ultra thin!) on L33tSauce's EVO, and the batteries are too big.(this is w/o aftermarket chassis).

Under BLT built, there's nothing yet, as I haven't written product descriptions, and made the motors yet.:p

Bold: That is xi's li-on cells right? I haven't learned the lithium side to xmods yet.

So you used tape to hold the batteries down with out a little slot for the batteries to sit? I will have a slot for the batteries. Mine is based off am's chassis with a few other mods to it. I will have the slot with the ty-wraps. We have tons of those at our house.

I see.

2wdpancar 05-03-2008 04:14 PM

Yes, they should be...but you have to buy the kit, as Chris took down the pack.:)

fieldfairy2 05-03-2008 04:22 PM

Ok that was what i am getting anyways. I have everything but the wires and i could use an extra set of deans.(i can get them at my hobby store for $1.69!!)
This is it:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...BATTERYKIT.htm

All i need to do is order my stuff and get some aluminum for all my projects. So (Donziikid) here we come cotm's. I will have 2 entries for the next few cotm.

2wdpancar 05-03-2008 04:45 PM

You can use RS wires, they aren't your best option, but they aren't your worst.
You could use that speaker wire, or go to your local hardware store(if close) and try to find some good wire, there is usually some decent, and rather cheap, hookup wire.:)

fieldfairy2 05-03-2008 06:33 PM

I have some left over from a couple other projects. It's all good. I just have to order everything and make some chassis!!

Do you have any pics of a design for a chassis?:)
I had some ideas, I'll draw a few up today or tomorrow.

fieldfairy2 05-03-2008 07:51 PM

I have the chassis started. let me find it. All i have id a dremmel hand some cutters so i can't do the symbol i want. I am going to make 2. One for the super with slots for lithium and another for the dragmaro for sure. THe dragmaro is going to have 2 two aaa battery holders from rs. I'll lose some weight and if i wanted too i can easily go to lithium.

let me find it... My plan is different because i am not using am's harware stuff. i have a different way of attaching the top of the motor cradle to the chassis.

here:
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...6650_IMG-1.jpg

the dotted lines are where i will fold it to screw it on to the top of the motor cradle. I will also have a couple different other things in the design as well. The "wings"(where i will fold) are a little bigger in real life. I had to edit that image since it wouldn't look like it will.

2wdpancar 05-03-2008 08:28 PM

No need to fold, use 2/56 hex nuts and screws.;)
