B1G's SSMT Garage

So as you some of you may know I recently won an SSMT off of eBay:

Link to auction:

The auction description was:

New RC Monster Truck w/real 4 x 4 Remote Controlled

So I was really looking forward to getting it and having a rip around! Well the first issue was that shipping take ages (10 days) but yesterday it finally arrived, once I had unpacked it the second issue was that it definitely was not new but I wasn't overly bothered by that as I knew that SSMT's hadn't been made for a few years, the third issue was that a bunch of parts where missing from it and the fourth and final issue was that the front end is messed up and there is no steering!

I contacted the seller and he gave me a full refund plus he let me keep the SSMT - sweet right!

Then I put like another $60 - $70 into SSMT stuff and got parts from various people (Sweed, XMODification, coolcar24th - thanks to all of you) and now I have:

Yes... thats right.... not one but two SSMT's:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...0/DSCF3198.jpg

Problem is that currently neither of the work! :) I have AWD working on both, I have servo's on both, problem is one servo only goes left and the other truck is 49MHz frequency board which I don't have a controller for.

Sweed did put me on to a cool site with lots of SSMT upgrades, so I might put a Mini-Z board into the one of them but other than that I'm still working on getting them up and running! :)

Thanks,
B1G.

I think if possible I would like to keep the truck, fix it up and have it running again so once I know what the deal is I shall create a BST thread asking if anyone has any parts for one of these, so if you have any lug nuts or the lug nut tool or any pieces going spare keep them safe because I'll be after them soon! :)

PM me and I'll look for stuff when I get home.

You can fix it, I have plenty of extra parts if you need them. Check out the Archives of R7R, quite a few people have converted them to use Mini-Z Electronics.

It's easy to open up. My steering burnt out a while ago. I was just running it, then it locked up and refuses to turn. It's a couple of screws on top.

PM sent! Thanks dude!

Yes its that one! and at the moment it isn't working so I'm not liking it a whole lot! Trying to get people to donate spares so I can get it running again!

Stampedekid 04-02-2008 04:50 PM

What is wrong with it?

EDIT:
NVM I actually read this time. A while ago I saw a lot of parts for these on ebay.

Controller and battery covers would give me almost 2 complete and running SSMT's (I say almost because there are still a few issues...) let me know when your back and what you have and we can talk further.....

OK so my crew was working on the F-150 all day yesterday and they finally got it running:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...s/DSCF3495.jpg

My biggest problems where the fact that the steering servo was all messed up and suffering from a really bad jitter! I re-wired all of that and then found out that my top deck to to tight meaning that the steering arm couldn't move! I loosened that up and the truck runs just fine!

The best thing is that this is a beast! I've picked up spare parts from a bunch of people so have upgraded shocks and motors and even with 4 crappy batteries in it this will climb pretty much anything!

I currently working on a deal for some more spare parts in an effort to get the H2 up and running! :)

Sweed 05-23-2008 01:56 PM

Oh, snap.
I just realized I forgot to send those battery covers. Lol!

Climb up anything?
I had trouble with mine crawling on the rocks in Sweden last summer.
Would only go so much..

TheB1GDude 05-23-2008 02:01 PM

I have a red, a green and an orange motor if I use the orange motor it seems to have the most torque using that I can do about a 40 degree climb depending on my battery strength.....

xmodificationer 05-23-2008 04:55 PM

hey if you want I can try to find some of my SSMT crap, I can give it to you for free if I can find it.

TheB1GDude 05-23-2008 05:01 PM

If you anything let me know, ill pay postage for it :)

I have someelse hopefully sending me a few bits so hopefully a few more months and both trucks will run!
