Thinking about getting a Traxxas Stampede VXL
 

I want to get a Traxxas Stampede VXL and was wondering if any of guys with experience on these would comment. Figured I'd use the Xmod inside and the Traxxas outside :) for my newfound hobby. I was lookin on youtube and boy those Stampede's take a beatin - what do you guys think?

people like them, but i'd perfer a 4x4 to control the brushless

If you are looking for something to take a beating off-road, I have heard a lot of good things about the 1/16th scale Traxxas Slash 4x4 Brushless. Traxxas as a whole makes very nice RC vehicles, you definitely can't go wrong with whichever model you pick.

Yea, the stampede vxl is very fun to drive, and it is seriously fast on 3s. Like winner said though' you're going to eventually move on to 4x4 though. 2wd just doesn't seem to provide enough traction for me. I have a savage flux and even with 4wd, its a little hard to control sometimes.

what "offroad" are you planning on doing?

cause if ur going to just go on thin layers of grass and dirt, then a rustler would be more appropriate, plus, you'd get mot speed with the rustler due to the lower COG,

either one is good, but i prefer the rusty cause im used to stadium trucks

Offroad like into mud, water, etc. like they show on the videos lol. Yeah, the guys over at the Traxxas forums that I just joined said the same thing that they all are great vehicles to have - best of all its real hobby grade :)

well if u going into mud, i say get a 4x4, like an e maxx or e revo(if u can afford it, LOL, the revo quite expensive)

4x4 is nice, but my stampede gets around just fine on about everything.
Plus it's great on grass of almost any length, and great fun in skate parks.
The rustler is also great but has a bit less ground clearance.
All the vehicles mentioned are good but most come with a much higher price tag.
I've acquired quite a few RC's of may scales but for all around bashing, my stampede is my funnest truck.
Not to mention the stampede is near unbreakable and cheap to repair if it does happen to break.

LOL, hey this is why I am working overtime basically all the time lol - it makes me feel better to work all this crazy hours knowing I will be able to buy more "toys" haha. Ya I decided to just go with the latest version of the Traxxas E-Maxx and this was after spending the last few hours all over the net researching these models. Seems like they really fixed things up in the new E-maxx and got it right. Just what I am looking for! Time to put my backyard to use finally!

You know what I like most about Traxxas is that they have sooooo much parts and upgrades available right HERE at home in U.S. :) I HATE waiting for parts to come in from China, Hong Kong heck even stuff from Canada take just as long sometimes! LOL.

I'd definitely go with the brushless edition.
The only RC's that I own that aren't brushless yet are my Mini-Zs and Xmods.
Everything else has to be brushless for me.

lol it seems like brushless is taking over one by one

from the working r/c's i have, anything 1/18 and over is brushless

everything smaller is brushed, cause im too lazy to go brushless lol

but i say go brushless, the titan 12T is a good motor, but the life is unpredictable, it can be an hour to a year to a decade...

Yeah with the bigger R/Cs it seems that you go brushless or go home lol. I read on some sites that the brushless motor cannot handle being in water like the brushed ones do but then I hear they can as long as you don't try to stomp on it in the water it will be fine - wierd...

Anyways, I am trying to get a brushless - already cuttin it close on the budget with a brushed edition but then I know how I am, once I get brushed I am gonna want the brushless ummmmm so I *just might* have to wait a little bit and get what I REALLY want :) Will post up some pics perhaps when it happens (soon hopefully)...

Hey have you guys seen or heard of the HPI Savage Flux?? Whoa is all I can say... I just *might* have a change of heart here - 62 mph outta the box??!

its just another basher.. speed isnt anything if u have no use for it, or even if u cant control it

i can BARELY control my rc18 at speeds of 50+ mph.. im sure since the flux is bigger, it would be a bit easier to control

but IMO, i dont look at speed when buying an r/c
i look at performance

for ex: my scaler build had an xtrail, and it performed no where near and scx10 would, so i sold off the whole truck.. and now im lookin at scx10's

look more toward performance rather than speed, speed can always be achieved..
buts its harder to make a car handle better or reduce a car's over/under steer

mycror, this is a tough choice lol - I cant decide between the E-Maxx brushless or the Savage Flux! Hmmmm...

Traxxas Slash! :D

E-Maxx is more hefty and durable with double the shocks. :P

Savage comes with upgraded parts.

Your call, but i pick Slash hands down. (:

well.. do u want something more durable or something faster?

compared to the e-maxx, the flux is pretty durable, but the e-maxx is a lot more durable overall,
i say emaxx, but its ur call

i personally would get the emaxx, because traxxass has awesome customer service.. any electronics break? send it in, they send u a brand new one

I got a Hpi Savage Flux, pics to follow once it arrives....

After owning a 2wd Slash, and the 1/16 Revo VXL and now two E-Maxx's.. I say go with something 4wd. The Slash was great, but it's best used on the track. It's just not as good for bashing. The Stampede is the same as a Slash, it just sits up higher so it can go through grass better I'm sure.. but being 2wd it won't be as easy for it.

The 4wd Slash again, from what I've heard, is at home on a track.. not as much of a basher.

I vote for a brushless E-Maxx. My brushed Maxx has plenty of power to though.
