Project: Zele 370z

So, I got a 370z body from FloydfanYodaman a bit back.

(tadaa)

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_2669.jpg

(For those of you who don't have a 370z, I painted that bit you see flat black)

The 370z is nice, but I'm not a big fan of the whole "bulldog" look of the grill. So, I decided to change it up and try to make the Zele 370z.

First things first, I cut off the grill.

Saved the front clip holder for future use.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3966.jpg

Added some putty.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3968.jpg

And smoothed some of it out.

jabari 01-01-2011 04:59 PM

I'm most def going to keep an eye on this one.

Any ideas on color?

Conshence 01-01-2011 10:17 PM

Excellent idea for a project car. Zele made beautiful kits for both the GT-R and the 370z. Definitely a project wirth watching

Probably just that bright orange in those pictures.

Well, the original putty wasn't mixed too well, so it was a bit soft in places, so I scraped off that putty and added some new one.

Did some more work.

Added a bit of styrene on the bottom for a lip.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3977.jpg

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3975.jpg

Puttied a bit up

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3982.jpg

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3983.jpg

Fixed some more minor things

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3981.jpg

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3979.jpg

Moar putty

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3984.jpg

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3985.jpg

And then I realized if I kept the styrene there, then I'd mess up the placement for the lip. So I ripped it off.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_3986.jpg

The putty wasn't really attached to it, so nothing too bad.

The green stuff is Milliput putty. The tan stuff is Tamiya Light Curing putty.

SnoOpy 08-01-2012 05:44 PM

have you used the tamiya quick type? im starting my first project and I really dont know what putty to use

taiwanesekid05 08-01-2012 07:30 PM

I haven't, but I've heard good things about Tamiya's putties.

XMDrifter 08-07-2012 06:52 PM

taiwanesekid05 08-09-2012 08:35 PM

the second picture in your last post is remarkable imo. you really did it with those sharp, smooth curves. great job!

@SnoOpy, tamiya quick type is something you can learn with but you're better off using the one that comes in the purple case for a first trial (dries twice as long, gives longer curing and sculpting time)

taiwanesekid05 08-16-2012 06:06 PM

tnx guise.

Started the body lowering process and shaved down the rear clip holder a few mm. Can't do the front yet since the front clip holder isn't there.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_6251.jpg

It's not 'hellaflush' but I'll work on fixing that.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_6252.jpg

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_6253.jpg

Started work on the side skirts.

I noticed the curvature of the bottom of the door was a bit off from scale so I decided to decrease the angle it jutted out at.

Shaved it all off.

http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_6263.jpg

Working on puttying it back.
