craigslist is usually a great site but yes there are scammers, more in the real car cat but you never know, with that site your better off sticking local and picking it up, but tell them you want to use paypal, if you dont get your stuff then you can file a dispute and get your money back. oooorrr tell them to list it on ebay and you will buy from there

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 10:27 AM

Ahh, I dont have Paypal though.....So I Fail......Ebay...I dont have PP again so I fail once more.

they ask for cash cuz there looking for a local buyer that will just pick it up. papal and ebay accounts are very easy to get now, if you really wanted to send the money to somone on here that you trust and have them use there pp account and eb acount to get you what you want.
another thing i learned with craigslist dont put your email on there, you get more
scammer emails then real ones (there easy to tell the difference tho)
the whole internet buying is ALL about trust, and since theres so many scammers now it ruins it for all the truthful sellers and makes it harder for them to sell stuff, it blows.
also money order is not safe at all, its basicly cash.

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 11:25 AM

Lmao, Only if someone i know and trusted on here had Ebay.

And yeah, I think i'll Ebay for my Titan.. =)

SPR 12-02-2008 12:18 PM

craigslist is full of scammers and not very safe. Never use it unless you can locally pick it up. There is no protection for you what so ever. and its not a smart idea to deal with on shipping cases. Stick to your local area only.

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 12:19 PM

Alright, Guess thats a no go. =(

texan_idiot25 12-02-2008 04:24 PM

CST10 Engine and trans: Craigslist $750
CST10 Gas tank: Cragslist $20

Then how does a person contact you? Hey, I guess leaving your phone number is a much better idea! Not like I can't find your home address in 5 minutes with that.

Use common sense, it's easy to find what's fake and what's fine by talking to a person.

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 04:27 PM

Hmm, Where were your parts located FireBird Bandit? (AKA texan_idiot25)

What? Rewrite that in a way it makes sense.

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 04:55 PM

Lmfao sorry, Ok...Where were your parts located?

texan_idiot25 12-02-2008 04:56 PM

Near here...? I just search around on Houston's CL for car parts. For obvious reasons.

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 04:57 PM

It was closest too you? Yeah, Not gonna find Xmod Titan's in Waco, Austin, nor Houston.

guitarboy911 12-02-2008 04:59 PM

craigslist is (if you use common sense), safe. if they are selling a brand new crate of xmod stuff for 20 bucks then it was probrablly stolen of something. or they want a wire transfer...

if you play it safe then you will be fine. communicate with the seller too. make sure he's not aloony or something

if it fails i have all of that sept for the hummmer and titan nib. ;) (not trying to jack a thread but help the man out)

What are you talking about?

I search locally because I can drive and pick up the truck parts. Of course you search in your local area, that's the general idea for classifieds. And no xmods in houston? AtomicMods.com is in houston. Noturday, and CivicGuy are in the houston area too.

HUMMER H4 12-02-2008 05:12 PM

Nope none, Not 1.

they contact you by clicking sales thing on top it has your email hidden....... dont put your email on the listing its easier for scammers to get ahold of you.........same goes for ebay, make them send you messages through ebay not your email.........think before you respond.......instead of trying to make me look like an idiot.
thanks

Now what have we learned here ?? That you may have a Michael Jackson brain, or may may live close to him.

???

I have used craigslist before, not to buy things such as xmods or small electronics, because most likely there not as the seller says there are. Like you want a "NIB F-150 starter kit",the seller is selling it for like $30.. You send him the money, then you get the stuff, come to find that you've just been riped. The body has alot of scratches, the board is not more (fried and has parts removed) and it might not even have good or even any knuckles.

I have only used it to buy car parts that could not have anything worng with them, if they would have something wrong with them, then you will see the problem.

Just remember, theres anlot of scammers out there.
