Tamiya Dyno Question
 

Hey Guys,
I remember reading somewhere about how the mini dyno would reach 99 kph and end up jumping to "00" then "01" and on.. which means its "100" kph or "101" kph and on.. is this true? where is the thread for it? search didnt really help me on this.. over 5 pages.. and nothing found

Yeah someone did say that a while back....

The thing to remember is that the tamiya dyno is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot....

The fact that it hits 00 and then continues going doesn't really mean anything, it could be that 99 + 01 is equal to 101 km/h or it could be that due to scale speeds your only really doing 50 km/h....

Sorry not much help but this really isn't an accurate device.

Well, I find it accurate. The results are very easy to reproduce.

Problem is its just not comparable to an actual ground speed in any way shape or form.

Its a great little device that gives good SEMI-QUANTITATIVE results, as we call it in the science world.

I used to own one of these and i know it isnt exactly accurate but excluding exterior forces [ie wind resistance], wouldnt it be easy to find out the actual speed you are going by;
Take the circumference of a tamiya mini 4wd wheel
Take the circumference of an xmod wheel
Multiply the speed shown on the speed checker by the ratio between the two.
Any thoughts?
