AAA Battery pack???

What kind of charger do I need if I solder up 4 AAAs?

bestdragon2001 01-31-2009 09:12 PM

Anybody?

xmodzracer 01-31-2009 09:17 PM

why solder 4 regular AAA's together?

himynamebebrian 01-31-2009 09:35 PM

thats what i was thinking. why don't you just get 2 aaa liths ?

anyways.. what kind of plug are you going to put for the charger adaptor on the pack of aaa's?

bestdragon2001 01-31-2009 09:36 PM

I know it might seem silly but some people do it and they cant afford liths.

bigez 01-31-2009 10:22 PM

to answer the frist ? you just need a chager that can chage at 1 amp

and people do this to there mini-z and pro z z's and they work just as good as aaa liths

lol 01-31-2009 10:35 PM

The Xmod HAS 4 AAA's slots. :eyecraz:

I'll quote EMU from minizracer on this one:

Sorrowness, invest in a peak charger. You can get them fairly cheap. One with a discharge function is helpfull but not necessary. The Duratrax Onyx 210 is a decent charger, and pretty cheap (AC/DC). I mainly use my Triton Jr for racing, since it is very compact and easy to transport, and has a discharge function so I can see how much capacity I have left after a run. Others to look at are the MRC 960, DuraTrax Piranha AC/DC Digital Peak Charger, Tower Hobbies AC/DC Digital Peak Charger w/LCD (I believe this is the same as the Piranha).

hope this help!

BTW, you can't compare lith to nimh...some makes aaa battery packs since some racing league doesn't allow lith and imo, lithium is a bit overkill...anyways, like I said some saves weight since you won't need a battery tray on a custom chassis. For example, the MRCG or the sinister pan chassis, you save some weight.

hey i had a set of these in a gen 1 track car and my friend and 2 aa liths and i nbeat him by like 10 laps

btw we had the some upgreads motors tires and body these are very good batts

some.. not a whole lot. if you hold up a battery tray, its lighter than an motor.

XMDrifter 01-31-2009 11:03 PM

but little or alot, it's still weight

c1v1c 01-31-2009 11:09 PM

It's also alot more useful when you only get to unplug a dean than taking off 1 battery at a time plus, it also save some space.

TripleXmodder(akaXXX) 01-31-2009 11:16 PM

I make these battery packs (XXX FREE modding, thread) and I use orian rechargable nimah aaa 900 man. Like bigez said you need a charger that can charge at 1 amp and is rated for 4-7 cells. I use a dynamite "prophet plus" charger.

bestdragon2001 02-01-2009 12:27 AM

Thanks guys, I might just need to get a battery pack off XXX or If i make my own do I just solder them with wire or can I get small bars?

sorry about the double post but If anyone knows please answer my last post cuz I want to order my stuff today

bigez 02-01-2009 10:16 AM

just ask xxx he will do it for free you just send him the batts or he will get them and you just send him shipping and money for the deans plugs

bestdragon2001 02-01-2009 10:20 AM

I might but I kinda want to do it myself.

himynamebebrian 02-01-2009 10:20 AM

yes, check out his thread (in my sig) and he will construct them for you. he has batteries. just pm him or post on his thread.

but make sure you read the opening post and check out the pics. it has rules, and stuff.

dccracing 02-01-2009 10:31 AM

well, my 1/10th scale charger has a toggle switch for 6 or 7 cells. if you have 6 aaa batteries wired in a series, would it work? my charger has an automatic shut off when it reaches a certain voltage or ampers or idk?

himynamebebrian 02-01-2009 10:34 AM

still check out his thread and pm XXX he would probably tell you what to do. and you might be able to just order straight from him.

here, if you do , you are going to need to take metal and solder it like the picture on the first page of the thread.
click on the last link in my sig.
