12v?

well i had the thought of taking an old scion battery tray,.....and hooking it to my titan i know its most likely a bad idea but..8batterys is better than for what would i have to upgrade to insure its life after i hit the on switch??

BulletsRain 09-12-2008 06:55 PM

12 volts is way over the safe voltage a xmod can handle. I believe the safe voltage is 8.4 and thats risky. Your gonna fry something.

urownstupidity 09-12-2008 07:00 PM

lol yea i thought some one might say that and im glad you did,but just asking ...is there anything i can do to make it handle it?,can it be done

jabari 09-12-2008 07:03 PM

It can be done. You would have to upgrade your FETS, get a v2.2, or a woah nelly. I would suggest getting the nelly.

urownstupidity 09-12-2008 07:09 PM

witch would be best for offroad? also FETS are sold at radioshaq right?

aaronz350z 09-12-2008 07:42 PM

radioshack doesnt sell xmod fets you have to get them from atomicmods,xi, or ebay

urownstupidity 09-12-2008 07:47 PM

yea i didnt think rs did i havent seen them in there well i guess im going online shoppig now lol thanx

Yes it can be done, fets wont make it able to handle more voltage, they just increase the amps. Same as the nelly's as far as i know. The V2 is the only one that can handle more volts and i believe it can handle up to 30 volts.

Bang on the head. V2.2 has its flaws but its the only one that i know of that also increases tghe maximum voltage. Unless that is the other boards do it a little.

Fets also dont allow increased voltage. Like civicblack said.

Depending on the nelly, it increase max voltage as well.

Motors? Nobody mentioned motors. What they have been talking about are different types of aftermarket circuit boards. Search around and you will find what they are talking about, I'm too lazy to search for links at the moment.
Wait a sec, didn't they stop making Nellys?

@ Everyone else: Why'd you tell him? I enjoy laughing at the newbies who come on here asking why their xmod doesnt work anymore after hooking up a 9v or something like that...

urownstupidity 09-12-2008 11:48 PM

lol im glad you think im a nood ..wich i am but im not stupid lol im a car audio installer so i kow my volts ohms and watts but thanx for the laugh..cuz to be honest wasnt sure what these things could handle lol but now i do.

Good, I'm tired of newbs arguing with me over things that they think they know, but they are way off... Its always good to know what you are working with before you start working on it. When I got my first Xmod, I didn't even drive it, I stripped it down and inspected everything, trying to understand it the best I could. Plus, I already know quite a bit about electronics too.

urownstupidity 09-13-2008 12:10 AM

i agree i hate people who think they know,i also took mine apart lol i took it down to just the bare fram an then started playing with mods and such..but im glad i found this site lota cool people and lots of info and help

xmodsnut 09-13-2008 02:04 AM

hum I did something simular to this but in a different way:lol:
take the extra pack run it in line with the positive motor wire. there is no need to upgrade fets but when you turn ur car off it will keep running. also you will lose reverse but gain turbo forward when reverse is hit.

I did it once on my F150 V1 just to see what happens and thats what it did.

for you people who dont know V1 is the original evo truck chassis. :bigwink:

urownstupidity 09-14-2008 07:53 PM

....so your saying its safe..or that a v1 can take ?it lol

dude_28307 09-21-2008 11:04 PM

yeah i need to do this with mine. i bought it and i really have yet to really drive it i was jus in a hurry to upgrade it so i can brink it back with me. but when i get it over here i will start taking it apart to see how it works and stuff. Is there anything i should look for or resolder whil i hae it apart?

would i 9 volt fry a stock board? Cuase i straped one to my car and it did super doughnuts. Now only the stearing works?
