LED's

Bart or anybody else... can you tell me what the MCD intensity means...http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=family

imnotmikal 03-16-2007 10:32 PM

im not that sure, but i think its the brightness

BART 03-16-2007 10:37 PM

yes it is the brightness. MCD means millicandella, and candella is a measure of lights intensity. I dont know the math on this one but the higher the mcd the brighter the light basically.

nice site...but uv is like a blacklight right? Only shows up against fluorescents?

librarianliam 03-16-2007 10:57 PM

uv is like black light... and does the viewing angle matter?

BART 03-16-2007 10:59 PM

I dont know much about the viewing angle (although i assume some led's are meant for broad range and some are focused like a spotlight)

librarianliam 03-16-2007 11:03 PM

30 degrees isn't too small but i think those led's would be bright enough and they are really cheap... $.87 each

BART 03-16-2007 11:05 PM

30 degrees is like a floodlight, not sure what you want them for but they would make pretty good headlights i think. I imagine that the lower the degree the more intense the beam.

librarianliam 03-16-2007 11:08 PM

i want to make a custom light bar for my hummer... and just to help people out on the forum who need LED's...

BART 03-16-2007 11:11 PM

do some more research and put something together (in your words...i like that) and I'll stick it to the top.

librarianliam 03-16-2007 11:16 PM

if you mounted an LED with a 90 degree viewing angle would that go across the whole front of the car... im kinda confused on the viewing angles once mounted...

BART 03-16-2007 11:20 PM

I think it means the optimal angle in which the light would be projected. so a 90 would spread light off of both sides and the front equally instead of concentrating it out the front as a 30 or less would do. I am just assuming here so dont take my word for it.

$.87 is not cheap i should know my brother is the owner of Auto X Systems a digital lighting co.http://www.com/ so i get all of my leds and electronics for free. he gets then really cheap.

well your brother is not our brother so we dont get them for free:)

librarianliam 03-16-2007 11:24 PM

free is cheaper than anything...but $.87 is better than 4 or 5 on ebay or radioshack

Galkinater 03-16-2007 11:26 PM

yeah but $.87 is still to much. you could get them cheaper on ebay

minimum 5 bucks shipping...the point was that you probably couldnt find them cheaper on ebay unless you bought in bulk.
