Would this work?

im doing a mustang project but its going to be slow built.

This is my nitro cars old electronics and im wondering if thius setup would work and if not what would i need?

micro servo in the top slot or xmods servo soldered to a micro servo board.

i plan to use a micro t motor which is not brushless.

this next pic will obviusly have a switch in between the battery and board.

no it wont work

i did run this set-up in my crawler , but that used a servo drive

the board will blow if you try to run that size or a micro-t size motor from it

to get it to work you will nee an ESC

deckerz 03-14-2009 06:42 PM

ah ok, what type of esc because the micro t one is expensive and its for brushless? is there a type of esc that i can just plug into channel 2 and the other side into the motor?

That is how nearly every ESC works. Ebay would be cheapest but my LHS has them for starting around 50 bucks. Not sure what a micro ESC would cost.

I just found this one on ebay.co.uk, by the looks of the wiring....can i use either brushed or brushless?

I dont think they make one that works with either brushed or brushless. One setup is dc and one is ac.

Edit; and that looks like it is just a power switch.

deckerz 03-14-2009 07:46 PM

i cant find one on the internet, well i dont know what im looking for, i know probaly a 1/10 car esc, but i really need to find a brushed esc.

Some brushless ESCs are capable of running both brushed (DC) and brushless (AC) motors. An example would be the Novak GOAT. To my knowledge, the Mabma Maxx is also capable of using either AC or DC motors. However, I am not aware of any micro ESCs capable of running brushed and brushless motors.

I knew you would be along to save the day. Listen to the Kid, knows much more about electrics than me.

After some searching around, the new Castle Creations Mamba SideWinder Micro is in fact capable of handling both brushless and brushed motors. The ESC alone starts at $69.95 MSRP. ;)

The older version of the SideWinder, the Mamba25, is capable of running brushed motors if you use a firmware upgrade.

Cheers,
Kyle.

Electronic upgrades are expensive. I say go with a micro t board and servo. It is small and as cheap as it gets besides a new xmod board and it is hobby grade. Otherwise Donzii has all the answers.

what ampage esc will i need? i may be running a 60000 motor but most probaly s2 or 40000.

Donziikid 03-18-2009 04:42 PM

What's the 60k and 40k motors and who are they made by? Do you possibly have a link? Revolutions per minute doesn't really tell much about a motor; we need to know the amperage draw.

Cheers,
Kyle.

iv decided to use a spider or nelly turbo instead with chilli motor, which is better out of the two and where can i get?

dontspamme 03-22-2009 03:46 PM

Spider V4 ? I would use this one as it's a hell a lot easier to find. Nelly's are a gem and extremely hard to find. The V4 is now sold out at XI and not sure when he gets them back in stock. But you can get them at shop.ausmicro.com for $40 w/o shipping. Theres also the Bug V1 which is better then the Spider V4, but more expensive. Can be found on that website as well.
