Shaving weight off MR-15 chassis

Has anyone tried to literally cut as much plastic as safely possible off of their 15 bucket to reduce the total weight? I'm curious to know which areas are 100% safe to hack off and which aren't so I don't ruin my chassis.

I'm considering using tape to cover the holes and preserve the cleanliness of the innards after this mod since it weight is probably negligeble in comparison with the cut plastic.

Another question would be about shaving around the servo box- is it a good idea in the first place and do you guys think that taping up new holes would allow it to function properly?

Well I wasn't trying to take off weight, but an easy weight reducer is to take off the battery covers. I guess you could take off some plastic on the top of the chassis.

Covers I'll pass on for obviuos reasons. Top is easy and straight-forwards as well, but the bucket itself is what I want to be cautious with.

Keep in mind most higher level races require a certain weight minimum. I don't really think the weight reduction on this car would be worth it. It still wouldn't handle as well as an MR-02.

That'll be for me to find out man and as far as minimum- ballast can take care of that in the right spot which will help handling in the end.

Ok, opinion away please!
