project: nissan silvia
i'll have pics up tonight...just thought about doing this thread while at work..and unfortunately i can't use a government computer to upload pics and post here....i'm customizing my nissan silvia mini-z body and putting it on my evo chassis...sorry i don't have any progress pics of the car while i cut...but there are the steps i took:
-removed head/taillight lenses and holder, window, exhaust, spoiler and mirrors -first taped off the front/rear bumpers and sideskirts -hooked up the dremel w/ a cutting disc and got to work -cut off the bumpers, and sideskirts -used the body kit from my nissan skyline xmod -used hot glue gun to position and place body kit in place my next steps are: -fabricate widebody kit for the silvia -drill holes in head/taillight holders for lights -shave unnecessary plastic from car -put holes in the side of the chassis for mounting -possibly put the electronics from my rc18r in my xmod -remove battery tray and add lithium battery setup -new board (which i'll get from atomicmods) i know you might freak when you see the car and might say why did i chop up the car..because 1. i'm not a fan of a white car and 2. i can get another silvia body and 3. i want to customize this one... please bear with me i haven't done a project car in awhile so hopefully i'll have a good one this time... |
Sounds cool. would love to see pics.
they will be up as soon as i get home
Sounds very interesting!!
Look forward to those pictures.... |
i hope you guys like them when i get them up...i have to do some work with the wheel wells to make it look right...when i cut the grill off of the skyline bumper i was amazed as well as the wife how matched up it was to the silvia..i'll also add pics of the chassis as well...
sounds like a very interesting project. can't wait for the pics so i can suggest things! :D jk
cool idea, the front, rear and top view pics look pretty **** good...but those sideview shots are messing with my eyes:eyecraz: ...looks like a lil putty here and shavin there and it'll be a sweet project...color???
i don't currently have a color in mind but i was thinking a black base coat with candy apple red on top, or maybe gunmetal gray with a design...i'm gonna ask all those who look at this or post which rims should i use the ones in the pics or the ones from the gt-r...
*UPDATE* well i have opened up the front bumper some by removing plastic i didn't want..and i also filled in the holes for the spoiler because i'm going with a different spoiler, and puttied up the bumpers and sides...i missed the door handles and some spots on the passenger side but can touch that up later...so without further wait here are some progress pics:

why are you puttying up the door seams?
i'm going for the smooth look...no doors like you would find in nascar...
this went from awesomely stock to haggard no offense modding the stock kits wouldve been better
no offense taken...everyone is entitled to their opinion but i wanted a custom silvia and that is what i'm doing...like i said earlier in the thread i can always get another silvia body....but i'm going to continue this project in the a.m. waiting for the putty to completely dry and there will be more pics afterwards...
