Donziikid's Traxxas Stampede XL5:

I also am a proud owner of a Traxxas Stampede XL5.
I have had this Stampede since my thirteenth birthday back in October of 06'.

Current Upgrades:
BOCA bearings throughout.
Deans Ultras on battery and motor connections.
RPM front and rear knuckles.
Epic 17T motor.

Since this was my first hobby-grade RC it shows some wear and tear of trying to do things I shouldn't have tried, but, it's gotten me here with no problems and still runs like a champ. I planned on going brushless with a MambaMaxx system, but, I now feel that is pretty pointless to do in a 1:10 monster truck. I'll save that money and buy myself something different; so, this is a completed project and just a great all around basher! :)

Donzii said right there in his post there for you. I would have thought the guy that knew everything about hobby grade would have known the scale of a Traxxas Stampede.

By the way, nice truck Donziikid. What are you planning on getting for the future? Maybe 1/10th on-road?

Donziikid 03-11-2008 03:43 PM

Stang -- The text isn't there just to fill space between the images, mate. ;)

MostWanted -- I have no idea. Right now all my money is sinking into just one thing; maybe if I make a profit off of that I'll get into 1:10th touring. Probably would be an old Tamiya TT01 if I can find one.

Tmaxxn3, sorry, this isn't a general Traxxas disucssion forum. If you would like to discuss your T-Maxx further please create your own thread. ;) I would certainly like to see and hear more about your T-Maxx.

Thanks, BART. :) A few on the Traxxas forum said the same thing a while back.

Awesome Donzii! Which Stampede do you think would win in a race, mine(nitro) or yours(electric)? Those are awesome pictures and a great video. What's the name of the editing software that you use? Have you broken any castor blocks on that beast yet?

I'll be the woosie and say yours. I thought this XL5 with the Epic 17 was fast, up until I purchased the Mamba system for my RC18. I know for a fact that your nitro Stampede will beat my electric Stampede, there's no comparison.

I broke my front left castor block the third day I drove it. Just brought it back up to the LHS and they gave me a replacement part for free. Then I broke it again a few weeks later and had to purchase one.

The name of the editing software is: photobucket. ;)

Savage does not compare to Traxxas. Savage would compare to Stampede, HPI would compare to Traxxas, which for nitro's i personally think it doesnt but W/E. i guess i shouldnt flaunt these ideas since im getting a Savage XL...

What a way to thread-jack, lol.

Donzii, the 3rd to last pic, dude you got some major skills there bro.

I hope I can take pictures like you when I'm 15.
Maybe now:lol:

Mooshu_Beef 03-12-2008 01:02 AM

Donzii great photos--what do you use for a camera? Looks like you have a nice wide angle lens...

Anywho I can tell you that a TT-01 is one of the cheapest and strongest 1:10 on road cars around. Great for bashing, since camber, caster and toe is pretty much fixed (you can get option parts, but for bashing you don't need camber)

Personally I drift with the TT-01 so I like my adjustable turnbuckles for toe, but I do plenty of grip bashing too in the snow.

I highly recommend the TT-01--but suggest getting a TT-01D, which will save you some time in rounding up some parts.

I MIGHT be selling mine. If you are interested, let me know and I will get more info for you :D

Thank you. However, they all didn't turn out the way I wanted them too. They still need a lot of work done to them, these are all straight off the camera. Your favorite picture, I'm assuming is this one, needs some color correcting and a really large contrast correction. It's wayyy too dark.

All it takes is practice. However, you won't acheive these same pictures with a point and shoot camera. You can try, but, you won't succeed. :p

I have quite a few choices when it comes to photography. I could either use my (my fathers old) Nikon D100 or I could go and grab his new Nikon D2X. The D2X, being such a nice camera that it is, can take much better pictures than the ones shown above - the ones above were shot with the Nikon D100 with my 28-105mm (f/3.5-f/22) lense. That lense is my "all around lense," it's the lense I take macro pictures with as well as just fooling around with on a nice day - it's not the widest angle, but it gets the job done if I stand at the correct distance, which I typically have plenty of room to manipulate my position.

If I really wanted to get serious for the "drive-by" photos, I would grab the D2x and the new 70-200mm VR f/2.8 lense and get really serious.

Not thread jacking how??

anyways, arte you saying your fifteen now. cause if so good luck getting into photography now and taking pics like that right away. It doesnt take that long to get this good though, with hard work maybe like 4 weeks, to learn all the functions, and developing pictures...Computer editing take slonger though...Digi is even easier...

Donziikid 03-12-2008 10:54 PM

Just locked the differential. Should be a lot better offroad, now. Hopefully all that CA Glue will hold.

[edit]I shouldn't have done it in my room I sleep in. I still smell the glue a half hour later.. Whee! :)

clintr79 03-13-2008 12:11 AM

Do you still have stock axles.I had a tmaxx with a spool and it would twist the axles. But it was fun that way.

Donziikid 03-13-2008 12:49 PM

Yupp, everything but what's listed in the first post is stock. I plan to keep it that way unless something breaks. :D
