::::) Wow...It's been a while since I last posted in here!

But, it's good to be able to. I recently completed a cool (in my opinion) project that I don't think anyone else has ever done. My friend's Firebird, (the one I showed you guys a little while ago) had some steering issues. I was kind of surprised to see that the car had gotten many more scratches and nicks than I had originally thought. So, while getting the steering straightened out, (pardon the pun) I persuaded him to let me paint the car. At first he wanted a glossy yellow, but gloss paints are hard to apply in the cold. Then, we went for flat black, but that wasn't really getting it for him. What happened next was very odd. One of us thought, let's do it [I]junkyard style[I] The idea was genius! The car would have rust, mismatched body panels, primer, and more. So, to the internet I went, searching for a means of artificial weathering. I found that and more. It turns out that someone actually takes 1/18 scale die-cast models and makes them into "Junkyard Jewels". The name of the website is www.JunkyardJewels.com, if you want to take a look. So, off to work I went, gathering materials, making "rust" masking, painting, all that fun stuff. When all was said and done, I was really pleased, and I think he'll love it. What do you guys think? (It was later decided that it would be in the "restore" phase...)

I used a sedimentary rock, water, and some acryllic paint to make the rust. I accidentaly lost some of the headlight lenses, but then when does a 'yard car have all it's parts?

THe work is great. Love it. The idea... well dont think i would ever ruin a perfect body like that.

I woulda stuck with the gloss yellow. If your having issues with cold weather, have everything in side and warm. and attached to something you can easily pick up and move around with out touching wet paint. Run out side, spray a quick light coat, and run it back inside to dry. and repeat. Will work just fine.

Personally i think id start the restore now.. you obviously have the skills to lay out a nice paint job. Id love to see it done!

lol thanks! i should restore it now! I dont think many would want their car this way, but the idea is that it is different. I can do the run out, paint, run in, and it works fine, but i prefer the look of lfats sometimes. my building can be heated if I wait long enough, but I'm a little impatient. thnks for the comment!

edit: u know, I really sped up the process here...i need to take a diorama pic...lol.

that looks pretty awsome! wouldnt mind doing that myself... but those green arms really stand out. but either way, i LOVE that paint job.

i know, those arms need to be painted bad. i like it though, the diorama was easy to make in my garden, especially since it is winter and trees have no leaves on them, it looks more scale...otherwise, it would be hard to improvise...you could go to a train modeling store and get some stuff though.

Looks good, you should make like a black-ish quater panel. I've seen alot of Firebirds have a quater panel black or white, for doing body work.

I would have, but it is my friend's and he's happy with it...I'm not going to lower my pay lol! I do like your idea.:)

Hay bro love the car and missing lights lol, you should put some cut wire like tex, did in his to give it a little more detail.
