I know its alot of pictures sorry about that.
So thats about it for the axles for now.
Now Lets get to the chassis frame. I used a chassis frame from a model and made some shackles and finished the front suspension setup.

Very interesting, keep us posted.

I'll be very surprised if those plastic gears last the life of the truck.

Keep us posted. I like the setup thus far.

WOW! Very creative idea. So since your using hobby grade electronics are you gonna use a 130 or a 540 size motor? Or a servo? Brushless? Will everything (battery, ESC, Motor, Servo, Receiver....) fit?

jabari 01-07-2008 08:28 PM

Looks like it is coming along nicely! Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

That's a sweet WIP. Even if it does use Xmod diff gears. ;)

540 on an Xmod? Jeez! That'd be huge! :o

Lol, an XMOD E-MAXX. Looking nice so far....Nice course too! Will you paint it?

mini-z drift 01-07-2008 09:45 PM

It will fit, but he'll have to put a motor mount, heatsink...
Trust me it will work.

Dr. Kustom 01-07-2008 10:28 PM

Sweet, those alxes looks awesome!

c1v1c 01-08-2008 05:19 PM

Thanks guys.
even tought some people says that it is possible to put a bl or a 540 size motor lol...it wont last long like donzzikid said since the gears in the axles arent that strong So i will go with a 130 motor with a custom gear reduction box or either a servo motor mod.

And yes i will paint the landscape as soon as i finished it.

I am curios and interested on how this is gonna work. I thought you were using the tamiya gearbox? Any ways very nice so far.

Kool:o I'd never thought of building things from scratch :D are you sure its up too scale? Seems a tad bit small with the diff gears :-?

TheXmodifyer 01-08-2008 06:36 PM

This is genious! It looks great too! keep up The amazing work!!

Spam-me-not 01-08-2008 06:39 PM

I love the idea, watch the binding and make sure the gears don't strip, although it's very plausible that they will. Keep us updated!

Okay bad news...My front axle cracked...the putty cracked i mean...Im kinda disapointed since i havent even run it yet and its already busted...Oh well I wont give up that setup for now BUT im keeping the axles for later...So now im gonna stick with my old and first setup.

XMODS FTW!!!

wow, that sucks.... i wanted to see it.
but whats up with the hs-55?

kungpow420 01-13-2008 11:30 PM

it looks like the servo is for steering I was thinking about doing some thing like that on a evo board because of the weak servo you just take the board out of the servo and solder the wires that are comeing from the xmod board to the new servos motor and pot and find a way to set up the steering links and mount the servo.

well for beginners, a crawler wont have leaf springs and rather a 4-link post mount from the axles to the chassis, this will give you the articulation you need as a crawler.

your axles seemed pretty decent, just work on those, then if you can manage a 4-link post mount running to the chassis then your set, but if you cannot do this for whatever reason then i guess its somehow do-able via EVO chassis??

good work so far & good luck.

yeah he is exactly right. leafs are not the way to go. rc's or real life. this was my old 4runner on leafs in the front... the flex sucks... any more and it would be tipping. deff NOT a rock crawling set up. even thou my rear end was 4 linked, the front alone ruined it.
