After sold my LC80, I decided that I wanted a new rig. I came across this rare Aoshima Hilux model kit. It was very pricey, but I've yet seen this model kit mounted on the Losi Micro Crawler yet, so thought I should give it a try.

Starting with this stock LMC, the stock wheelbase line up with the body pretty well.

Update: Chopped up the chassis, got the tranny fitted.

Then I notice that the tranny sit pretty far away from the frame, so I wanted to re-position it, but the bed got into the way. I had to cut out a small piece off the bed, so it will have enough room for the motor to fit.

Update: Now that I've got the tranny fitted, its time to move on to the rear axle. Made a pair of leafs and some shackles, now the rear axle is mounted.

I'll try to replicate the exterior of that rig as much as possible. As for the chassis and suspension set up might be slightly different.

The stance was a little high from the earlier stage, so I decided to lower it a bit. Had to cut out half of the gas tank to clear the axle.

Thanks 4G63punk! I have styrene sheets in different sizes. I usually pick them up at my LHS, sometimes I get them from ebay.

Thanks Evolution! The double cab Hilux that I've build wasn't that good, I had to almost lock the front suspension to get the steering to work right. After many re-build, I'm still not satisfy with it.

Lol! I was inspired by one of the 1/10 Hilux build by 1BadJeepBruiser over Scale4x4. My goal for this build is try to replicate his 1/10 version as close as possible. I even borrowed the exact same title from his build thread. :lol:

Lol, it only snowed like an inch, all the snow melted within the day. I asked 1BJB about the 1/10 version, turn out that he already sold that rig, so probably it's not in NY anymore. :(
