zippos customs propulses
well i am in the process of getting 3 propulses. trading for some, and buying another next week, if everything goes right.
well here is the first that showed up today, and another should be here tomorrow. this one has a dual motor setup, and aluminum shocks. I also ordered 2 high torque motors to get set up on this beast. eventually this one will have 2 stump pullers on it. but for the time being the pro pulse high torque motors will do. one is going brushless, and unsure on the third on as of yet. well enough talk, heres some pics. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1535.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1537.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1538.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1539.jpg |
Nice, I'm trying to get one myself.
|

|
congrats...you'll have a blast...mine have been to hell and back...
|
From what I heard from many many people, they suck, they break, is that true? I dont remember who exactly said it, but I know alot of people said it.

careful with the dual motor setup...i have read the torque shreads gears/diffs or something...i know my dual motor setup went from AWD to a rear wheel drift monster...chaotic on the dirt but a blast on the asphalt...always thought a dual high speed motor setup would be a trip...thoughts?

well the second one showed up, it is actually set up pretty much like the first one. dual motor setup, aluminum shocks. different tires, and i have to put in a servo, and come up with soemthing for the linkage to steer it. the ball is broke off the arm. ill figure something out though. i am thinking i need to invest in a better charger. doing the math on these, 122mah battery, 150 mah charge rate, 8 hours later i can play. not so fun, so i am going to look into an adjustable rate charger. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1541.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1543.jpg edit, got the steering fixed. had a servo lying around and took a ball and drilled a hole into the arm and screwed the ball into it. here she is. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1546.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1545.jpg |
Exactly the idea that I had to fix it but I didn't have any spare parts to do it.
Glad to see it's in good hands. I'll admit I do miss it, but I have a feeling when I get my Slash next week it won't bother me as much. :) |

well i took them out today, and for some reason these have more glitching and twitching than my xmods do. one of them stops every once in a while and does nothing. the other one started, towards the end of playing with it, kinda jerking when you hit the throttle. you can see it in the video but its just in forward. should i just upgrade the electronics? got them dirty, and now have to clean them up. i was drifting the one around for a little bit on some small loose gravel at the inlaws. and took it through the yard. the other i think i am going to set it up for jumping things. it actually did real well. with the exception of the glitching, and the litte accident it had with the pipe i was jumping. nothing major just pulled the shock outta the cup where it hooks. was able to put it back together and it seems alright. heres some videos. first one is in my kitchen, and the dog loves this lol. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1547.jpg heres one of the things i was jumping http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1548.jpg |
cool vids...one of these days you are gonna take out that camera...and your pup rocks...i got a cat that acts like him, around the xmods...sometimes mine get glitchy when the batts run low...or if they have been taking a beating thru 2 or 3 packs...then i just take it as a sign they need a rest...glad you r havin fun with em...

well i got my other one bought, and should be here sometime next week. so until then here's some parts that showed up. i am going to put the 2 high torque motors on one of these. then when i get about 70-80 bucks extra cash they are getting true stump puller motors. now its time to clean them up and add some of these parts to them. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1574.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1575.jpg |
Aaand I just remembered what I forgot to send you with it.
All of the tires I had for it. If you want them, expect them sometime halfway soon.. I should have a box big enough to hold them somewhere. |
lol, i'd take them. i think before its all said and done on thesse i will be shredding the tires. :) let me know when they ship
|
well, heres how i spent last night. watching the ku game, drinking some beer, and messing with one of the propulses. i got the dual high torque motors installed. need to pick up some deans plug, so until then its rigged up. checked out the diffs and all bearings. and found the rear axle carrier bearings need cleaned so i gotta take them to the shop tomorrow and clean them up. well heres some pics
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1577.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1578.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1579.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1580.jpg |
well my last one showed up. can a mod change the title to zippos customs propulses . thanks
this one came with some goodies too. now i have a bunch of extra parts and a few more on the way. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1609.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1610.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1611.jpg |
very nice.
|
Your making me severly miss my old one. I was one of the 1st rabid buyers that christmas.
Loved if for a few months, but with dual motors it melted diffs way too fast, and this was before there was a solid knowledge of what fit, so I put it in the corner and it's been pillaged for parts on other things. |
Nice but I hate my Pro-Pulse so I moved on. All the gears kept stripping and I knew what I was doing. Never ever did it get ran rough. Unlike my Brushless Micro DT, Mini LST2 Nitro Stampede, Brushless Slash or others. Those get beaten to hell with no problems yet a minor jump with the Pro Pulse destroyed a diff and a crash to the curb at about 5mph caused the esc to smoke up even though it was running cool the whole run. I still have it just because but man I hated my pro-pulse as it started to give me trouble. Good to see you are having luck with them.

Man I've been trying to get one without much luck.... got a RadioShack gift card with propulse all over it but my local ones are all sold out... did come across this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MegaTech-ProPulse-Converted-to-Associated-RC18R-ARR_W0QQitemZ260385476749QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_ Control_Vehicles?hash=item260385476749&_trksid=p32 86.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A 1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 But don't think I can afford it at the moment.... |
thanks for all the comments, and as for the gears stipping out, im planning on steel diffs, and strengthening everything else up on the ones im going for high power.
got some more parts today, so i figured id post them up and then post up all my propulse stuff. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1630.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1632.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1633.jpg |
Good to see someone has the right idea: purchase extra antenna tubes!
Cheers, Kyle. |

well i was supposed to go run them last night but the guy i was going with backed out. and today its snowing a little but. only a light dusting so far, but its cold and windy, so heres some indoor vids. propulse from gearguy, 1320 mah lipo pack out of project subawow, 1/10th esc, propulse receiver, and single high torque motor. all that means lots of fun, and quick. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1648.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1649.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1651.jpg |
she flies. but its really cold out so the tires weren't any where close to hooking up :( but it was still fun playing with. once it warms back up ill take it over to the tennis courts.
here's how it is all tucked in there, i think im going to see if i can tidy the wires up a little more, but until then here is how she sits. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1659.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1660.jpg and being the camera man and driver, i couldnt get too nuts, so here's some short vids of jumps, messing around, and what not. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1654.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1652.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1653.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1655.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1657.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1658.jpg |
Man that little thing moves.. looks like it's a bit of a handful.

You must really like these if you keep buying them. How much did that one cost ya? If you ever want to sell one, hit me up.
|
i had a bucnh of them too, i bought all the returned ones which there were like 6 or 7 of them for 10 bucks each, and i fixed um and traded/sold them. they do move though, amazing little cars. relatively cheap too

well i have a dumb question, i actually was reading the destructions for the sidewinder brushless setup, and it says that you shouldnt run lithium until you program the esc for use with lithium. i do plan on getting a castlelink cable anyway, but i dont wanna wait until then if i dont have to. thoughts and ideas? |
My only thought is why are you reading my mind? I want to get a pro pulse and run brushless and lipo. But I don't know much about programming, so I am of no useful help.
|
^^^ lol. this thing is quick, but i have the programming link on the way.
well i got my dual high torque motor setup all put together. its a rwd beast only. the front wheels dont stay on the ground much anyway. well in the short time i was able to run it before i destroyed the bevel gear that drives the diff. 2 to be exact. but i have a steel diff and outdrives on their way so i can finish this one up. and as i said up above the castle link is on its way too. so i will have both of these back up and running by the end of the week. then when i get some more spare money i will get steel diffs and outdrives for the brushless one too. its very, very quick. has low start off torque, so i will get that taken care of hopefully with the castle link. |
ok so i ordered a few parts to try out. B1G was having some issues with his, so i ordered 1 steel diff / input gear, 1 set of steel outdrives, and 1 set of steel cvds (swingshafts). these were for my dual high torque motor setup, since i destroyed the stock input gears. for the most part it went together with very little issues. on problem i was having was the diff was unscrewing itself. so i just tightened it to the lock position. same thing, came unscrewed. put some thread locker on it, still unscrewed when i tried it today. so i tightened it once last time, then it stripped the nut out.... there created a little problem. it was a nylock and it did want to come off the shaft.
so after a little coaxing i got it to where the threads were flush with the end of the nut. so after trying and trying and trying i said screw it, got the hammer and punch. came right out, didn't mess anything else up. so i found some other screws i had bought for the xmod. and did away with the spring, tightened it down and now i have my current beast. rwd, steel from the input gear to the cvds, 7.4 v lipo 1320 mah, and custom dual high torque motor setup. the only problem with it now is keeping the front end on the ground  i also ordered the castle link cable for the brushless propulse. did some tweaking and its all fixed, no more jittering and whatnot. vids of it tomorrow of sunday. so for now heres a video of the dual high torque in the kitchen. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1818.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...h_100_1819.jpg the reason i laughed at the end of the last vid, is if you watch right before that you see the car flying, literally flying, over the camera. |
Sick dude!! Absolutely sick! That thing is bad ***!!
Can not wait to see the brushless one!! |
