Welcome back, finish it! :)

yea, he probably could do a better job but it would fall apart as soon as the last coat of paint was dry....:roll_eye:
for as much trash as i've talked about him,he's a pretty **** good artist,he just doesn't bother taking the time to perform the steps needed for longevity.

it's getting finished this time...;)
thanks

do it up man,if you go the same route i did,be wary of cutting the rear bumpers.
cutting the firebird bumper to fit snugly into the camaro bumper was slightly tricky, one slip and the firebird lenses are useless.
good luck.

thanks guys, it feels good to put in some work again.
now i'm starting to wish i had more time to finish this one up.

got it all smooth and ready for paint.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...m/DSCN1887.jpg
i'm hoping to get it painted by the end of the day then all that's left is to wetsand and reclear the rest of the shell, get the chassis/wheels squared away and work the fiber optics for the lights.

cheers,

BlueDragons 06-05-2010 12:07 PM

Hope that this time its the last time you have to make the bumper! ;)
I´ll keep my fingers crossed!

I´m looking forward to see this finally finished!

Bananabrain 06-05-2010 07:51 PM

Rear bumper looks great, came out real smooth.

you and me both my freind....:bigwink:

well, i was hoping to get the bumper fully painted but the best i could do was a solid basecoat.
one thing that's been bothering me from the start was the lack of spoiler.
i think i fingerred it out...

this was the original plan.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...m/S7300705.jpg
but, in a rare move on my part i sided with the masses and realised that it does'nt fit as nicely as i previously thought so i ditched it and havn't thought about it until now.
what i wanted was something similar to this.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ix/z28/z28.jpg
though it's on a camaro, that spoiler is from a '92 formula and what i wanted for this was that same shape but i wanted it to follow the(newly created) curve of the 2010.
i found the shape i was looking for in the form of a GT-r spoiler...
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...m/DSCN1933.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...m/DSCN1935.jpg
i'm suprised at how well this spoiler fits the shape of the car.
it has the F-body feel to it with the hard lines of a late model.
BTW,it's not going to sit that high....by no means.
those pics were just a rough fitting,it should be sitting flush soon enough.

tune in tomorrow, same stupid time, same stupid channel...

GearHeadV8 06-05-2010 09:24 PM

are you gonna repaint it? or keep it as is lol either way it looks sick and i love the new spoiler.

i'm working everything from the rear window back.
everything forward from that is staying the same.
the only reason this part of the car is so far behind the rest is because of the mishaps with the dogs.
i'm gonna have to go back and fix a few spots on the front of the car due to working over reletively fresh paint but matching front to rear is the least of my worries after a dog chomped my bumper not once but twice.

the new spoiler is getting chopped...

GearHeadV8 06-05-2010 10:09 PM

lol i seee so same paint scheme? and ha the dog best be cute lol

Bananabrain 06-06-2010 09:05 AM

That GTR spoiler really sets it off.

yup, same paint scheme,i don't think i've shown any pics yet but the chassis is going to carry the same black/blue/silver combo to match.
and yea, she's cute,
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3.../13weeks10.jpg
she's older now but that's about how old she was when she chomped it.(13 weeks)

thanks man,i thought so too,i just didn't like how high it sat off the car so i nipped and sanded it to resemble more of a firebird spoiler.
now it sits flush and i'm ALOT happier with it.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...m/DSCN1943.jpg

since these pics, i've gotten the holes for the spoiler filled, everythings back in black and i got the hood tach painted up.
the "LED" taillights have been a slow project but it's coming along.
i've got about 3 hours or so in lining up optic strands and i'm not even half way done....:roll_eye:
i located some strands that were half the diameter of the ones used in the previous update so it's taking twice as long.

hopefully i'll have some fully painted mockups shortly.

cheers,

xmodsNSX94 06-09-2010 07:47 AM

looks great still and im glad you got back into it :)

the spoiler looks real nice good job.

ad those dogs are very cute, i want one lol

bondo 06-09-2010 10:39 AM

lol thanks.

whoo hoo...happy days!:D
the bumper is fully painted and it hasn't gotten chomped..
i'm trying out a couple wheel options too so tell me what ya think..;)(no rear clip)

Car and chassis look stunning!

I am glad you have been able to finish the project as this is definitely a one of a kind!

I am liking the second wheels, are they the Team Atlas rims? The meaty tires also help make it look more realistic.

pimp32 06-09-2010 10:57 AM

those first set of wheels r sick

Bananabrain 06-09-2010 12:57 PM

I like the first set of wheels & the width of the second. Too bad you can't combine the first rims with the width of the second set.

mr.hotrod 06-09-2010 01:32 PM

I like the first set, Only because the second ones look like hellaflush gone wrong to me.
http://www.skateallcities.com/wordpr...each-ca-21.jpg
just how the tires stick out

FloydfanYodaman 06-09-2010 09:59 PM

hey Bondo...glad you are back to moddin' ;) ...i like the 1st set on the car...even tho the Atlas wheels are bad@$$ in their own right...the body looks great...looking forward to those fiberoptic lights as well...chassis is sick and complements the body/color scheme nicely...so i would think this projects is headed for some bullet/dog proof box?...

...AAAANNNNDD i see someone made some progress in their shop ...ahem...finally LOL...nice to see the air tubes on the walls all painted and mounted...and the xmod hotrod wheel/airhose reel is pretty ingenious as well...you and yourshop were inspiration for me building one...still has a long way to go to look like yours tho...

mwelp... car is almost finished, shop is almost finished, you are talking about other projects...whether you like it or not ...you are back LOL ;)

i'm leaning HEAVY towards the atlas wheels right now.
regardless of what people say,i'm the one that has to look at it since i doubt people would pay what i would want for this build.
the offset is easily fixed and it does look good with the first set of rims but the Xmod tires SUCK!!
thin walled tires are a trend that i'm completely over...
rarely do i choose function over form but thin walls are nothing but trouble and i'm completely bored with it.
anyone here remember when stock wheels came with actual rubber wrapped around them?

thanks man,
bulletproof,no.....houndproof.....yes.
i can lay claim to the first 2010 firebird chewed by dogs but i've yet to lay claim to the first 2010 firebird with actual bulletholes so i think i need to leave that option open for the time being...;)

GRATS! for being the first to notice the updates on the garage,i really didn't think anyone gave that much of a ****.
i know all about the "long way to go", i've still got a few tricks up my sleeve for the garage.

cheers doods,

BART 06-09-2010 11:09 PM

Speaking of your garage, I love how the body is on the lift. Glad to see you around, I have been waiting on a fiber optic update.

you know me man, i gotta try to keep it realistic.
all i need now is a poseable 1/24 figure to do my wrenching for me.
the fiber optics are slow going simply because it's so darn tedious.
i figure there's going to be roughly 80-100 hand laid strands by the time it's all said and done.

i don't have a visual update yet because work took over and i havnt had much shop time but i have been doing little things here and there.
i nabbed some Gen1 "big disk" brakes from my secret stash(freinds house) and nipped em to go inside the atlas rims aswell as loaded the rims with driveshaft bearings to keep them nice and snug.
i also started in on the chassis but i gotta keep that one under wraps for a bit.
anyone that knows me should know that when i keep something top secret it's usually pretty friggin' cool and most of the time is something that's never been seen before so keep your eyes peeled. :eyecraz:

cheers,
