lmao, i know, cleaning it up tomorrow. planning on hitting it with the air wand, then get down to the fine bits cleaning it. and i have a bunch of things coming in tuesday for this, so i might completely strip the chassis again.

BART 05-17-2009 12:40 AM

I like to use an air wand and degreaser, if you spray the degreaser into the airstream is has a pressure washing effect that I have always found to work very well.

zippo855 05-17-2009 12:46 AM

never thought about that, will have to give it a try, i've used carb cleaner before to "powerwash it", but if you get the wrong kind and its not quick evaporating it makes the plastic brittle. i gotta hit up the parts store anyway tomorrow so ill pick up some degreaser as well. thanks for the tip,

clintr79 05-17-2009 12:53 AM

I use nitro clean and a brush to clean the gunk, then spray a little wd40 on the plastic parts then blow the extra wd40 off with airhose makes it look like new

BART 05-17-2009 12:55 AM

Soak the car with degreaser, then when you turn on the air just keep spraying degreaser into the airstream, its incredible how well it works and none of the electronics ever really get wet so there is no damage, I have used this method for years and have been very happy with the results.

zippo855 05-18-2009 10:41 PM

picked up 2 more 1/10 scales today, really cheap.
got the tmaxx with the 3.3 conversion, and the 2.5 nitro rustler. there not the cleanest, seem to be sound. got a little bit of painting to do then i am going to start cleaning these up.
and some parts will be here tomorrow for the tsunami

here's some pics.
man this thing has a lot of articulation.

well with the parts showing up tomorow i figured i strip the tsunami down to bare roller, looks pretty again, cant wait to add the new parts tomorrow.

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1991.jpg

the only thing i found wrong with the rustler (except being dirty and dirty airfilter) is the exhaust coupler was ripped, luckily i bought a couple last year as they were close to the tsunami ones.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1992.jpg

all the bodies got a bath, they look so much better now.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1993.jpg

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1994.jpg

well, the tmaxx was another story, went to put some after run oil in it to lube it all up, since im sure the last guy didn't, and well nothing happened. the electric start didnt roll over or anything. pulled it all apart, the engine was gummed up and sluggish rolling over, and the lube for the electric start had long since dried up. so i need to get some grease for it.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1995.jpg

and a new exhaust header, this one is hammered
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_2001.jpg

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_2002.jpg

did get the resinator all cleaned up for the tmaxx though, you can actually read it now, i am planning on polishing it though.

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1998.jpg

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1999.jpg

got the air filters washed on all three, not sure if i am going to reoil them, or just replace as the one i found to use in the tsunami is a traxxas filter, and identical to the other 2. 6 bucks for 3

got it installed, new header and tuned pipe looks very nice. i ordered the oem exhaust coupler, and well it just didnt fit. luckily i picked up an extra traxxas coupler for the 3.3 and it fits perfectly.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_2006.jpg
got it cleaned up for the most part, need to pull the tank off and clean it better. other than that she looks much better.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_2007.jpg

zippo855 05-27-2009 12:23 AM

Good ebay score dude it looks to be in decent shape... any idea on mods or you gonna run it and see how it handles first??

BART 06-02-2009 08:21 PM

The RS4 is a great car, I have one with a 2 speed. the belt system is very reliable and quiet.

Donziikid 06-02-2009 08:23 PM

Awesome score, Zippo! Very nice chassis. I've heard they handle like a dream when dialed correctly.

Cheers,
Kyle.

thanks, once it stops raining ill take it out for a spin, hopefully tomorrow night.

zippo855 06-07-2009 11:10 PM

well i took all the nitros out today, but only got to drive 3 of them.

tmaxx - needs a big wide open area thats smooth to get it tuned it correctly. and i now need to replace my servo save as it decided to break when i was coming down from a wheelie. still works but i know its broke...

tsunami - got it tuned it great, and got the 2 speed adjusted to where its doing great. it was a blast

rs4 - finally got a chance to play with this. started on the 2nd or 3rd pull. was runing great, then started bellowing smoke and died, acted like it was flooding itself out. went over to adjust it and found that the retaining clip for the high speed needle is broke. so i dint get to drive it long. but while it did, this thing is so smooth and very nice response and steering. i need to get a new clip and hit the tennis court for some high speed runs.

no video though, didnt have a camera man today.

zippo855 06-13-2009 10:04 PM

well i have searched all over and cant find parts for the engine on this engine. i contacted who i bought it from and they said they thought it was a sanye engine. i found one on ebay that looks identical. but i can't find anywhere to buy parts.
anyone have any ideas?

deckerz 07-05-2009 10:29 PM

you have inpired me lol to rebuild my ts4n, i got the parts a while ago and now iv finished school i have the time. just need to find a cylinder head that will fit on a ts4n pro 12 engine.

zippo855 10-22-2009 08:00 PM

well i've been working on a trade for a little while, got rid of some propulses and what not and got a few new to me nitros.
first one is an rs4 roller with 2 speed trans and aluminum shocks. second one is a 1/8 scale buggy. thing is a beast, has a .28 hpi engine, few alloy upgraded parts, and the little one was staring at it in awe for a little bit, almost as long as me

ok enough talk, hers some pics and i thrwe a tc body on it for some references to size :)
