Alright so the good news is... I GOT A NEW XMOD!!! woo woo! got a GT-r for 23bucks! brand new from a Radio Shack! the place had over 5 of em, and all the other street models too! had 1 AWD kit, and 1 Stg 2 motor upgrade as well!! I bought em all!

Good news,
-new car (gt-r) $22.97
-stage two on clearance $1.97!!!!!!!!
-AWD upgrade $13.97

Bad news,
Me n my friend both have 370's that are the same band (10) and are unable to drift together with out interferance... SOOOO I decided to make the GT-r my drifter, swappping over the Stage 2 and the AWD!

THE "PLEASE HELP ME!" part...

BUT!!! the GT-R brand new WONT EVEN GOO! holding the car upside down, or off a surface. closing the throttle fully will make the wheels make some pretty nice power. but as soon as the wheels hit the floor, or if the car tries to start from the floor. ITS A NO GO! takes ages for it to move anywhere andd when it picks up enough speed, it will kick in a little and pull away. The cars original motor had the same result, my stage 2 motor had the same result, afteer cleaning out everything and aligning everything the way it should be (or so I hope) still the same result!!!

VIDEO HERE-->

RC throttle problems as well.
-Rc controllers throttle response isnt very good. lighty tapped, throttle is nice and easy as it should be. about 1/4 way down, the rpms are on its way up as it should be, 2/4ths still climbing as it should be. 3/4ths is where some problems occur and it will decel below the previous trigger pressures "should be" rpms... SOMETIMES it does work properly. ALSO sometimes at full 4/4 pulled trigger down. the car will only make half its rpms... BUT! if i apply the seemingly 5/4! pressure to the throttle it will skyrocket its rpms to its limit.

I gave up at the end of the day. leaving my AWD kit and stg 2 motor in the skyline... I have no idea what it could be... again... the controller doesnt seem to have good throttle response. brand new batteries and from open throttle to gradual closing the throttle the car goes from low rps to a little higher, to a little higher, then to low, then if you pull the throttle really hard, BAM! HIGHEST rpms are finally released. I am going to link a video to show my problems. PLEASE HELP! ADVICE! ** VIDEO ABOVE**

well got this iwaver body that when i bought i was told it was a mint kyosho body, well it wasnt... its a crappy iwaver. im going to do a quick project with this to give some life into this dead skyline

here's the progress,
when i first got it

thoose stripes were a PITA, the owner put them on after spraying the color coat, the put 1 coat of clear on them, and they used electrical tape so the did not fit any flush with the paint, not even a little.

next, took off the stripes, and wing that wasnt removeable,

not much to say, but the stripes took off some of the black paint

next the windows,

as you can kind of see in the first pic, theres a huge glob od super glue holding them in, so i had to cut around the glue to get them out

and how it sits now,

sanding down the paint, not sure what the guy used but its hard, real hard..

going to need to find some badges, but thats long ways away

Q & C's welcome ;)

Another new project from me, this time is the Datsun 240Z! Can anybody guess what's the plan for this one?

Btw, it was a pain in the butt to take off the body piece, R246 not only melt the back of the parts to the body, but they also added glue to it, which make it really hard to take them off! But I guess it is a good thing if anyone will be race with them.

I started with lowering the ride height, and sand down a few rough spot on the body.

I cracked the body while trying to pop off the side clip, but that's nothing but a little glue can't fix.

Shave off the inside of the fenders to give the wheels more clearance.

Before:

After:

I am pleased to say that my AWD has finally come! and with that so has my newbie drfiting skills!

I am starting get the hang of it, but taking a few hits into some rough metal chair legs and walls, my paint has become a little less then it was. The gloss finish I had put on, is doing to my suprise, a great job at protecting my paint. I probably hit that metal chair leg at full speed, and not even a scratch.

But unfortunately I can not say the same about flipping the car out in the back yard on concrete. haha...

anyways... atm I do not have drifting tires? not sure how much of a difference they make. but right now I am using blue masking tape from a 3/4 inch width roll. I cut the strips down the middle in halves and have that on my tires.

any info on making drift tires, or recommended drift tires to buy please let me know!! ( also could you describe to me, how they feel exactly? like a hard rubber? or plastic? whats it like?)

Howdy, Sirs and Ladies!

My Name is BlackBird! I am completely and utterly new to RC world as well as Radio Shacks RC car/trucks. For the most part, for my hobby, I build and paint lots of 28mm, sci-fi figures. Mostly from Games Workshop. But a man can OD if he only has one hobby and **** it these little RC cars look sweet! I really like the idea all the third party upgrade kits. In particular I'm interested in the off-road trucks. (So i can drive them on my carpet and harass my kitten). ;)

So i'm joining the Xmodsource forum, to gain some information on where to start, and what to expect. Some, how-to's if you will.

I am BlackBird.

So I just picked up a "slightly used" Gen 1 NSX off ebay. Upon trying it, the car turns to the right significantly and I thought it might have something to do with this broken piece.

Can anyone tell me what this part is that's broken?

Here is a better picture of the broken part and the good working one too. You can see how part of one is broken, and the screw can't thread into it. Seems like it might hold the shocks down, not sure.

I thought maybe I could replace this whole piece that connects to the wheel. Any thoughts? What's this piece called?

Blah blah blah, sold the CRX for healthy price, bought me some RWD goodness. *** jokes aside, cosmetically it's in fantastic shape, and only has a few mechanical issues.

On the immediate to-do list:
-Brake rotors
-Tune up stuff, check timing belt
-check crank nose (google Miata short nose crank), car doesn't show any real symptoms yet, but it would be good to get a head start on it
-shocks
-radio
-a/c charge

Beyond that, it's just replacing the CRX as a fun to drive, but fuel efficient DD. The CRX just wasn't going to be reliable enough, or easy enough to find parts for in a hurry, as I found out.
The car is a hoot to drive, much more capable than the CRX. Unfortunatly, with bad shocks it's absolutly terrifying to take a corner at high speeds! Just wants to get loose over bumps. So for now it's a matter of basic maintenance before any real changes.

First and foremost, thanks to the six entrants we have this month. On behalf of the Xmodsource Staff, I apologize for the lack of competitions within the recent months, and I promise you will see more in the future. Please be sure to check back for the September COTM competition which will be posted within the next day or two.

Before I go any further I would like to again stress how important it is to read and reread the rules before making your final entry. Multiple entries had to be excluded from this months competition due to simple oversight of a few rules. Again, please, please, read and reread the rules very carefully. I hope to see these members in next months competition, which again will be another open class style competition.

Please, before posting your ballot, be sure to review all of the entrants carefully and reread the rules. For your convenience the original entry post made by each member is linked to by clicking that entrants name.

2. What you should not do:
-Self-voting is frowned upon. Please be sportsman like. If you do not like any of the entrants but your own, simply do not vote.
-Creating a separate account just to vote for yourself. Unknown and suspicious handles will be IP checked.
-Any type or form of cheating is frowned upon. Please do not even try to cheat.
-Members who enter who cheat will be removed. Any self votes will be removed from the final tally.

3. Time Frame:
-Voting will be open for one week (seven days) from the start of the voting thread. Again, all entrants must be in by August 31st, 2010 at 9:00PM EST.
-Please allow the Staff some time to create the voting thread. If you don’t see it after forty-eight hours please remind us!
